Getting buy-in for the L&D agenda
For their May issue, Learning and Development publication Training Journal asked Speak First to contribute once again. This time, senior consultant Jackie Smith wrote about how those in HR and L&D functions can influence and persuade the business.
Using her experience of working with clients in HR and L&D roles, as well as her knowledge of influencing and persuading skills, Jackie outlined techniques that can be used by anyone to get buy-in, seek backing, or justify budget spend.
This article is a useful reference point to help you drive the Learning and Development agenda within your organisation, whoever you need to influence. It considers the preparation you need to do and who you need to approach, outlines how to build a convincing case and suggests ways to flex what you say and how you say it to persuade successfully.
If you’d like to read Jackie’s article, you can either:
- download it from the Training Journal website, (if you have a subscription to Training Journal)
- or contact us requesting the article and we will email it to you
