Open course bookings

At Speak First we have a simple set of terms and conditions for the booking of open courses for individuals at our London training venue. These terms and conditions are applicable to all open courses, whether booked online, over-the-phone or by email. Alternative terms and conditions are in place for in-company, blended, virtual delivery and coaching. For more information on these, please contact your account manager.

Booking and payment

Open course bookings made online, or over the phone, are made with immediate payment by debit or credit card. Existing clients, with an established credit account with Speak First, can book online with the total amount being invoiced after booking – invoices can be settled by debit/credit card or bank transfer.

Confirmation of booking, and receipt of payment, are sent by email. If these aren’t received shortly after booking, please call +44 (0) 207 253 2117.

Participants and communication

Open course bookings can be made for yourself, or for someone else. Where the booking is for someone else to attend, please provide their full name and email address in the notes field. If you’re booking spaces for multiple individuals, please specify their name and email addresses individually.

Participants will receive joining instructions within 30 days of the course delivery. These will include instructions on what to prepare ahead of the training, as well as a form to complete and return.

Venue and trainer

The training venue is at Speak First’s head office found on our contact page, and the trainer will be selected based on their suitability to deliver the training. We reserve the right to change the venue to an alternative location if required, and reserve the right to change the selected trainer at any point. In the unlikely event that a venue needs to be changed for any reason, you and/or the participants will be informed at the earliest opportunity.

Refreshments and catering

Speak First open courses, depending on their duration, include refreshments and catering throughout the course. Participants will be invited to specify any dietary requirements as part of their joining instructions. Where there are specific dietary requirements, Speak First will attempt to accommodate these. However, in some cases, this may not be possible – if this is the case we will advise the participant at the earliest opportunity.

Changes and cancellations

Where Speak First cancels a course we guarantee a place on the same course on the next available date, or to refund in full any payment received in respect of that course. Speak First will not be liable for any other costs incurred because of the cancellation.

Changes to the participant attending can be made up to 5 working days before the course delivery. Changes must be requested in writing by email.

Cancellation of your booking is subject to the following fees:

• 30 days or more before the course – full refund
• within 30 days of the course – no refund (100% of course fee to be paid). If an alternative date is booked at the time of cancellation, the new booking will be discounted by 50%.

Non-attendance for any reason will be treated as a cancellation. In exceptional circumstances, we may re-schedule your course place – this must be confirmed with a member of the account management team by email.

Speak First retain copyright over all existing work and materials which are provided or distributed prior, during or after the course. Unauthorised distribution or reproduction is forbidden. Other than static photographic images, it is forbidden for delegates to record any part of any training programme by audio or visual means.


Speak First reserve the right to use your organisation’s name, logo and any comments given through course feedback and evaluation forms in future marketing collateral or material.
